The first single from Jamey Johnson’s upcoming album, The Guitar Song, was released on Monday.
“Playing The Part” is already on the radio, and fans can download the single from iTunes on Aug. 24. The album is scheduled for release on Sept. 14.
The Guitar Song will be split into two albums: the Black Album and the White Album, with a total of 25 songs. There will also be a limited-edition LP vinyl set in black and white.
“The original idea was always to do a double album. It is an album that is a tale. The first part is a very dark and sordid story. Then everything after that is progressively more positive, reassuring and redemptive,” Johnson said in an interview.

Jamey Johnson will take the stage for the 10th Annual Reading, Writing and Rhythm Benefit Concert June 8th in Nashville, TN. The event’s proceeds will benefit music education programs across the nation.

Jamey Johnson tickets are hot, but he didn’t fare so well at the 2010 Grammy Awards.
His song “High Cost of Living” received a Grammy nomination for ‘Best Male Country Vocal Performance.’ His competition included Keith Urban,Trace Adkins, Billy Currington and George Strait, and the award was ultimately won by Keith Urban for “Sweet Thing.”
The second nomination was for ‘Best Country Song’ and was a songwriter’s award (Jamey Johnson helped co-write the song “High Cost of Living, which the award was for). That award went to Liz Rose and Taylor Swift for “White Horse.”

In that category, he’s receiving competition from Billy Currington’s “People Are Crazy;” George Strait’s “Living For The Night;” Keith Urban’s “Sweet Thing” and Trace Adkins’ “All I Ask For Anymore.”
Johnson’s “High Cost of Living” also received a nomination for Best Country Song, with competition from Trace Adkins; “All I Ask For Anymore;” Lady Antebellum’s “I Run To You;” Billy Currington’s “People Are Crazy;” and Taylor Swift’s “White Horse.”
The 52nd annual Grammy Awards are returning to the Staples Center in Los Angeles on Sunday, Jan. 31, 2010, and will air live on CBS at 8 p.m. ET.
